PTA PRESIDENT MESSAGE
Dear Bonita Canyon parents and guardians,
Welcome to Bonita Canyon’s 48th year of providing education excellence to our community! On behalf of the Bonita Canyon Parent-Teacher Association (BC PTA), I am thrilled to extend a warm, enthusiastic welcome to you and your children as we begin a new academic year. As the newly elected PTA President, I am honored to serve our vibrant community and work with you to create a positive, enriching elementary school experience for our young learners.
Our PTA is committed to fostering a collaborative environment that nurtures the growth and development of every child. We believe that a strong partnership between parents, teachers, and administrators is key to ensuring a successful and fulfilling journey for our students. Throughout the year, we will be organizing various events, workshops, and initiatives to enhance your child's education, well-being, and sense of belonging. I would like to personally welcome and encourage parents and guardians to join us and participate, it’s an extremely rewarding experience, not just for our students, but for us adults as well.
For information about our school programs and events, watch your email for our weekly PTA newsletter and other communications. Additionally, each of us has access ParentSquare, a great app to use if email is not your thing and you want to see all communications in one place. Just be sure to turn notifications “on” for the app in your phone settings (links to download iOS & Android). All you must do is download the app to your phone, then simply enter your phone number when prompted, we all already have accounts. Also, please make sure you visit our Bonita Canyon PTA web site and follow our Instagram account @bonitacanyonpta.
For quick reference, the following events are scheduled over the next month:
Aug. 19: Back to School Night for the Autism Program at MPR 4:00-5:00 pm.– We invite our autism program students and families to join us to discuss what to expect this school year.
Aug. 19: Popsicles in the Park in Chapparal Park at 3:30–4:30 pm.- Reconnect with friends, meet new ones, and enjoy delicious treats, compliments of the BC PTA. Then, new BC families (and existing ones) are welcome to participate in our new family orientation at MPR. Please see the attached flyers.
Aug. 20: Coffee and donuts. – We will be providing some delicious treats for adults after morning drop-off by the MPR to welcome in the new school year.
Aug. 26: CIMI parent meeting from 5 Pm.- We invite our 6th grade community to come and learn all about their trip to CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute) at the MPR.
Sept. 2: Labor Day, No School. - School will be closed for Labor Day holiday and we’ll return on Sep 3rd.
Sept. 5: Back to School Night for PK-6th grade. – We invite our PK-6th grade students and families to meet their children’s teachers and learn more about the coming school year.
Sept. 12: Our Back to School Bash from 5‒7 pm. – Mark your calendar for a great evening of food trucks, music, fun, games, our new spirit wear, and so much more. (More info coming!)
Sept. 18: PTA General Association meeting 8:30-10 am. – We encourage everyone to come and hear from PTA leadership and Principal Pace about the coming year.
As we embark on this journey together, I want to reassure you that the PTA is here to support you and your family. I encourage you to participate in our PTA meetings, where your input and ideas are highly valued. To join now, please click here.
